Brooks with my dad, 1940s

Brooks Henderson, my father’s uncle, was a radio man in St. Paul, MN. I only met Brooks a few times, the last of which was at my brother’s college graduation in 1982. During a moment of downtime, I dragged him into an arcade for a round of Ms. Pac Man. I’m sure he was eager to leave, yet whenever I would turn around at the end of a play he would smile.

KSTP in Minneapolis/St.Paul recently put some of their vintage broadcasts up for all to enjoy. Here’s Brooks reporting on D-Day, June 6th, 1944.

There are more broadcasts from that era on the KSTP website.
