Sad, sad news. Mulgrew Miller, one of the giants of modern jazz piano, passed away today due to complications from a stroke. He was a comprehensive player, one whose crisp, inventive style helped revitalize a languishing genre.

Speaking as one who studied his playing, I can only say that what he did for jazz piano was nothing short of revolutionary. He was also an amazing accompanist and appeared on over 600 recordings.
